A vision for Guernsey's future

Long Port’s aim is to deliver a sustainable vision for Guernsey, the phasing and prioritisation of which is at the absolute discretion of the States of Guernsey - it is an à la carte approach that allows initiatives to be chosen concurrently or as stand alone projects. At the end of the development and regeneration programme, all commercial land will remain in the freehold ownership of the States.

The Long Port proposals:

  • To provide a visionary, integrated, comprehensive approach to land use on the east coast - with developments 100% funded by Long Port and with zero investment, construction and development risk to the States.

  • To provide Guernsey with a sustainable, future-proof, integrated waste-management facility on reclaimed land at Longue Hougue - this will comprise a sewage treatment facility, waste to energy plant and recycling park.

  • To create an improved marine environment at Belle Greve Bay and storm and flood protection to Le Bouet and Les Banques.

  • To help achieve sustainable long-term economic growth by providing an estimated £100m+ return to the States through stamp duty, income tax, rents and capital receipts.

  • To meet the island’s future housing and employment needs through a sympathetic regeneration of the Guernsey waterfront.

  • To provide enhanced social and recreational amenities, including town beaches, safe sailing and water sports lagoons, improved shopping and covered open spaces.

  • To provide improved tourism facilities, including a 5-star hotel, conference centre and cruise liner terminal.

  • To provide 1400 extra public parking spaces in St Peter Port.

  • To undertake a full public consultation in partnership with the States to deliver the necessary consents and to tailor the projects to the community’s needs.
